In shirovasti process a bandage is tied around the head and a cap is placed on the head, with an open end on top, after that luke-warm medicated oil is poured into this cap in such a way that oil is not leaked out. Shiro means head and Vasti means container holding liquid. This therapy is beneficial in treating diseases like migraine, chronic head ache and throbbing pain in head etc.

This therapy is a beautiful blending of two classical ayurvedic treatments, Snehana and Swedana. The whole body is bathed in streams of lukewarm medicated oil followed by soft massage by the therapist. Pizhichil protects the body from illnesses and builds up immunity for a healthy life.

UROVASTHI

Urovasthi is a sanskrit word, where in Uro stands for chest and Vasthi stands for containing or retaining something. In this therapy specially prepared medicated oil is placed on the chest for specific oil. The oil is warmed up to the level that body can bear the warmness. After words lukewarm oil is put on the chest inside the completely sealed wall boundary is made from the paste of black gram powder or wheat powder. When the oil is soaked up it is poured again, this procedure is repeated for several times. The treatment helps in preventing muscular pain, maintaining strong muscles etc.
